Special Delivery was released a few days ago and we could play with it for a while, and learn how does all of it works. From the marketing part of the game, I liked the Launch Trailer the most, where they’ve managed to add Markiplier. The game’s release and the whole Early Access were very chaotic, they’ve released the first batch of codes, and there was no second batch, they’ve just released the game for everyone, I believe it was because of the problems with the codes, people would lose access sure to errors and stuff like that. Now, the new FNaF game can be played by everyone… everyone with a compatible phone, and the list isn’t big. Some of the phones that were of the compatibility list at first were later removed, it was quite messy. Confusion was even further enlarged by Google Play, because of you can’t play the game, it won’t even appear in the story, so people are still confused when the game comes out on Android. It’s our already, just you’re phones are too weak. The game alone, I have to say it’s quite good. It obviously isn’t what we saw on the trailer. They are always overblown, it was just a cinematic trailer and we’ve expected to much from this game. Special Delivery has rather a simple gameplay. You spin around, and the animatronic can attack you from any angle. That’s all. They don’t care about the floor, hallways, dark spots, they just take one place in the room and attack from there. You could say it’s simple, weak, uninteresting, but it’s not necessarily true. The game is interesting, difficult, we have a first legit ranking where we can compete against each other, we also have first cheaters, because I really don’t believe it’s legitimate 40+ points. The mechanics aren’t that difficult to understand. A lot of people complain about them, but they don’t read the emails we get from the company. In short, we are looking for noise on our screen, from that noise the animatronic will emerge. If it appears standing still, we need to move away, and if it will run into our direction, we need to zap it, but only after it decloaks. If it won’t, it was a bait attack, and we just ignore it, preparing for the next. That’s all. One successful zapping, and we’ve won. Gameplay is very intensive, especially when you’re defending a high streak, trying to get to Top 100, or trying to get Streak 13 to unlock the last endo. It’s difficult. Some of the animatronics have their own twists, Foxy is fast, BB is very silent, Baby has quick reaction time, so we need to keep moving, and Springtrap… He’s more complicated. When he’s standing still with white eyes, we need to look at him. When with red eyes – we can’t look at him. We can collect suits, robot CPUs, mods, and remnant to boost our characters. Lore-wise, because there is obviously some lore, what else would you expect from Scott Cawthon, Fazbear Entertainment started it’s own programme of sending animatronics. Officially, you get an endoskeleton, you can send it to friends, you can play, joke around, whatever you want, but in reality, we attack our friends with the robots. These aren’t the real Freddy characters, it’s not THIS Freddy, THIS BB or THIS Springtrap, these are just endoskeleton with suits and CPUs imitating the originals. That’s why you can easily create your own… uhh… Balloon Boy in Springtrap’s suit. You know who I’m talking about. The whole setup is very jokey, it’s nothing new, Help Wanted and the indie developer showed us something similar. Scott is done with the serious lore, it’s only half-serious now. We still have William the killer, his followers and everything, but just in the corner, we have the Indie Developer, a project of sending the animatronics to your house. These story points are absurd, and that’s the point, more jokes, stretchy lore to explain the gameplay, less serious, dark stuff. I guess that even Scott was tired with the riddle he’s been making the past seven games, so he decided that the fandom needs something lighter. I don’t mind it, I like this humour. But that’s what we should expect now, not any big, serious story points, but jokey, absurd stories, especially around Fazbear Entertainment, they were a joke ever since the very first game, how their interest in clients’ and their own employees’ lives was null. And Special Delivery will be developed further. We’ve got the first lore email already, the character named “Ness” is warned not to search for torture devices on the company’s internet. Ness may be short of Vanessa, who may be our Vanny – betatester girl from Help Wanted, she has some weird interests, likely related to her obsession with William. Now, we’re waiting for more lore, and for the first event (first one was already announced), because as I think of it, Illumix gave us the base game with 8 base characters, and there will be more characters coming soon. The first one should be Plushtrap, he’s been advertised a lot now. I just wonder whether they will be added permamently, or just for the time of the event. We’ll see. So far, it’s a cool game in early stage of production. AR technology isn’t perfect, it can glitch at times, so I hope it will be developed further. Unlike Pokemon Go, Special Delivery can help to develop this technology, it’s a main point of the game, you can’t just turn it off and play without it, in Pokemon Go it’s simple to just ignore it. My Special Delivery strategy is to constantly move around the glitch. I never use the flashlight, I just try to locate the noise sound. If you get used to it, you will know where exactly the animatronic is, the sound is specific here, you can think it’s weaker, but it really isn’t. If we stay in one place, we can be attacked by the “standing still” mechanic, and it’s way more dificult to locate, where the animatronics is moving. I move around the noise, try to imagine where exactly the robot is, and I look there when he starts running. You should look down too, it helps a lot, especially with Baby. If you look in her eyes, she almost instantly will jumpscare you, but if you look at the legs, you can run away more easily. Also, since the technology tends to glitch, if you do 360 and there’s no glitch, the game probably stopped to read your position and got lost. At that point, you should turn your phone to the floor, it often helps the game to reset the position. Also, remember that the noise can’t be found for the first few seconds, so don’t let that trick you. For now, that’s all. Tell me what do you think about this game, I’m sure most of it is “the game is unavailable on my phone”, but well, I’m very interested in your specific opinions about all of this. I’ll wait for you in the comment section.
