My name is Nonie Devine, I’m a courier, and I’ve been working for FedEx for 12 years. I had two other jobs, and a friend of mine mentioned that FedEx had openings. I came in, it was physical, it was fun. The position as courier opened up, I jumped at the opportunity. I love the idea of being on the road and meeting people, it just seemed like the perfect fit for me. Here at YMXA we work as a team, there’s a lot of energy, there’s a lot of joking. We sing on the sort, we dance on the sorts, and it is very much a family atmosphere here. When you see Nonie in the morning, your day starts on a bright note. She’s energetic, charismatic, funny, always there for her teammates. I enjoy the fact that I work with a group here when I come in in the morning, and then on the road I have great customers. I love my customers. I joke with them, I have a good time. Nonie, is a ray of sunshine, especially Monday morning. She always comes in, bubbly and smiling. It’s very much appreciated. We deal with FedEx on a daily basis; we know that it’s dependable, we never have to worry about Nonie bringing our package whenever we needed it. She comes in, she’s always putting a smile on our face. There are certain times that you’re touched by certain customers. One of my customers, I would bring her medication, and for a long time I didn’t have to deliver there and I got a little worried. And one day I actually saw her out and about, and she told me that the reason she doesn’t see me, she’s cancer free. And to see her, and she’s doing great, it meant a lot to me. Ever since then I always look in on my customers. I love the fact that I have this rapport, and like, I know what’s going on in their lives. The day I found out I won Courier of the Year, I was actually speechless, is the best way to describe it. I loved to see what my customers had to say, that’s the reason I was doing it. It was a proud day. FedEx is a fabulous company to work for. I go to work and I have fun. I wouldn’t change what I do for anything.
